The Thatched Church of St. Peter, Markby (1287)

Markby Church, Lincolnshire

An external shot of the Thatched Church of St. Peter, Markby, built from the ruins of Markby Priory. Apparently it is the only thatched church in Lincolnshire. This photograph was probably shot in approximately 1911 (the state of the roof matches the image found on this page).

The Thatched Church of St. Peter, Markby

Markby Church, Lincolnshire

Spot the difference. I think this one was taken at a later date compared to the image above as the trees look bigger and the ivy has crept further up the wall. This also shows a new thatch on the roof and a gravestone in the foreground.
